Around the time this website was started the vast majority of volunteer work programs in South America cost thousands of dollars per month.
What was worse is most of that money went to giant middle man organizations who had a stranglehold over the volunteer work industry in its infancy.
The vision for this organization on the other hand was to create a lean and sustainable social enterprise that was transparent and used low-cost volunteer work as a vehicle for change. It worked.
Now that ecuadorecovolunteer.org has grown to become one of the largest websites of its kind in the country it is ready to enter the next stage of its evolution.
Over the coming months I will be implementing changes that will completely remove the middle man (ie. myself) so that the large volume of traffic this website receives is channeled directly into the volunteer programs creating change on the ground.
